What is a High-Performance Work System (HPWS)?


As we discussed before Human resource is a crucial source of competitive advantage for organizations. For doing that organizations have to be more focused on their employees and their management. HPWS – High-performance work system is one of the practices used for managing the employees.
It is a combination of HR (Human Resource) policies and practices which are going to improve the performance of employees. HPWS (High-performance work system) aims to get a high-performance culture, in which an organization is trying to achieve high levels of performance. 
The most crucial thing in creating high-performance HR (Human Resource) policies and practices is HR (Human Resource) metrics (quantitative measures of HR (Human Resource) activities, such as employee turnover). They allow managers to benchmark their practices.
Some of the practices of HR (Human Resource) in HPWS (High-performance work system) are:
  • Hiring on a validated selection test
  • Training Employees (new and experienced employees)
  • Giving Incentives
  • Providing feedback
  • Filling more jobs within the organization
